“The fundamental objective of the formation of the lay faithful is an ever-clearer discovery of one’s vocation and the ever-greater willingness to live it so as to fulfill one’s mission.

God calls me and sends me forth as a labourer in his vineyard. He calls me and sends me forth to work for the coming of his Kingdom in history. This personal vocation and mission defines the dignity and the responsibility of each member of the lay faithful and makes up the focal point of the whole work of formation, whose purpose is the joyous and grateful recognition of this dignity and the faithful and generous living-out of this responsibility.”

Missionaries of God’s Love: We are, with the consent of the Diocese of Calgary, a contemplative-active society integrated by lay men and women dedicated to the service of the Church.

Our mission: To promote the vocation of laity towards God through programs of formation reflecting the face of Jesus Christ.

Our spirituality: Moved by the love of Christ and empowered by the Holy Eucharist, the Missionaries of God’s Love identify with the model of life planned by St. Teresa of Jesus and St. John of the Cross. We live a disciplined prayer that inspires us to be a reflection of the love of God in the family, in the parish and the society.

Our Habit: With the yearning of testimony of communitarian life, the Missionaries of God’s Love wear a habit consisting of dark brown trousers (men) and skirt (women) representing that we are nothing more than clay in the hands of the divine potter who transforms us constantly to his will (JR 18, 1-6), a white shirt (men) or Blouse (women) symbolizing the baptismal holiness to which we must aspire in our journey towards eternal life, and a dark brown rosary dedicating our itinerary and discernment to our holiest Mary Mother of the Redeemer.

Initial Formation Program: Enquirers and Candidates receive formation on every 4th Wednesday of every month, 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. The main objective of this program is not only to prepare new missionaries, but to build a community of prayer and apostolic service.

Permanent Formation Program: All the Missionaries of God’s Love meet once a month to pray and study different topics that help them to strengthen their joy of believing and the enthusiasm for communicating the faith.

Annual Retreat: This is a two-day event for which the spiritual advisor of the society and a Discalced Carmelite Priest (when possible) are invited to deliver lectures with dynamics of prayer based on the current need and projection of the society.

Divulgation of Faith: One of the means of evangelization that the Missionaries of God’s Love focus on is the creation of audio visual materials that promotes the life of prayer and testimony of life in the family, work and community of faith (parish).

“Learning to Pray Praying”: This is a series of reflections, on every second Wednesday of every month that will guide us towards a rapprochement contemplative to Jesus Christ. All Catholics pray the Our Father, the Creed, the Ave Maria, and other prayers. The objective of these meetings is to discover the treasure hidden behind the words.
